Tomatoes anyone?

I don't know if you guys have heard about earth boxes because I never had. But some of the girls in my ward were making them so I jumped on the band wagon and made one too. I felt like I should try and have some sort of garden and maybe it would help me get into gardening some day. They are boxes we made out of rubber storage tubs that you plant in and you don't have to remember to water them except for about every two weeks. It's perfect for me because I just switched to a fake plant in our living room since I had habitually killed real plants for five years now from forgetting to water them. Although a flower pot would work just as good as long as you water the plants. Here is Hailey modeling one of our growing tomatoes.
And here she is harvesting our first tomato
Now I just don't know what to do with the tomatoes. This one happened to be put on hamburgers on Memorial Day. And I attempted to make some salsa, which turned out pretty good. But I just don't know what I'm going to do with them, I need to get better at my vegetable cooking.

What's new with Aubrey?

Aubrey is now 6 months old. She is a beefy 20.8 lbs. We'll see if she starts to slow down in her growth because this is the time that Hailey started to slow down and averaged out. She started sitting a couple weeks ago and that is always a nice stage. But as you can see she has many cute rolls and even some cottage cheese on her thighs, ha ha. Charlie likes to joke that we bought her a swimsuit with a skirt to hide her thighs.
We finally started her on some other foods. She was excited to try new food but she already seems bored with the cereal so I need to stock up on other foods like veggies and fruits.
She also took up driving and took to it really fast. She usually always has one hand on the wheel and the other on the stick shift.
She also enjoys foot eating. She constantly wants something in her mouth and when she doesn't have something readily available her foot will do just fine.

As some of you know Charlie is overworked currently at his job (in fact it is a Saturday and he is at work today) so Aubrey likes to help him out to lighten the load.

She continues to be a joy to our family. People always comment on how smiley she is and it is true. It's interesting to see how different Hailey and Aubrey are as babies. Hailey was always observant and serious and Aubrey is always a busy body and smiley. I love both of their personalities.

Sand and Water

Before Charlie joined us in Utah he cleaned out the porch while we were gone. Since Hailey had been playing with most of the sand on the concrete instead of in her turtle sanbox he decided to get rid of the sand. Earlier in the year Charlie had filled up a hole in the grass with sand because he twisted his ankle in it so Hailey found the sand hole and claimed it as her new sandbox, kind of funny and sad at the same time.
So since we had an empty sandbox sitting on the porch I decided to put it to use and turn it into a little pool for the summer. It will come in handy on the days I don't feel like going down to the pool. Both girls seemed to really like it. Aubrey loved splashing around in it.

May events

This month was Charlie's 30th birthday. I think he is embracing the age while most of us in our twenties are shunning it. We went bowling and to dinner with his family. The highlight was when I gave him his birthday wishes from various friends and family who had lots of nice things to say about him.

Mother's Day! I love mother's day because I don't have to feel guilty about not helping out and relaxing. Charlie made a very thoughtful and delicious gift. It was very beautiful and it was the best fruit I ever tasted. Every time I turned around Hailey was eating a piece of fruit, she snacked on that thing for two days straight.
Me and my girls, we tried to be matching for church. After a nice nap Charlie made a delicious dinner that we enjoyed with his family.

Annual Utah Trip

Our time in Utah went too fast. We wanted to make it a relaxing trip, which it was, but it was full of a lot of events as well. We had a baby shower for Mich'ele (my sister in-law), a 21st birthday for my sister Corine and a graduation from BYU for Paul (Charlie's brother). And between all of that we kept busy eating out, going to an aquarium, bowling, a ceramic painting place and just being together. We were also able to hang out with Charlie's family who were in town for Paul's graduation. We usually try to visit friends but we didn't even have time for that. Hopefully our next trip will be longer and we can fit that in next time. Hailey had so much fun hanging out with everyone, she always had someone to entertain her, I felt like I hardly saw her :) My family was also able to meet Aubrey for the first time.

Having fun with uncles. (Sorry Aunts, those pictures are on Corine's camera)
Hailey was Grandpa's helper in the yard every morning. She loved the Dora gloves he got her.
Family fun

Happy Birthday Hailey

(I feel a little lame posting her birthday a whole month later. What can I say... April was a busy month.)
Hailey is now 4 years old. Not to sound too old but I'm sure many of you remember the day she was born and now she is 4 years old, time does fly. Here is a little play by play of her big day. We had her preschool group over for a party to start the day off.
Waiting for the party to begin.
Playing with bubbles they found from a treasure hunt.
Eating some lunch before.....the birthday cupcake
They also had fun doing a pinata. It was made by one of the guests.

After the party and naps Dad came home early so we could go to a movie and dinner. We went and saw Horton Hears a Who and then went to Chili's for dinner. We got home pretty late but still had family presents to open and cake to have.

Here she is the next day modeling off some of her gifts and dancing with Aubrey with her new Disney CD
She also had another cake from her grandparents the next day. I would say she had a pretty good birthday.
